FAQ

How do I get started Homeschooling?
Getting Started Document
How do I withdraw my child from public school?
If it is the middle of the school year and you choose the homeschool the rest of the year, there is a path for that. First, please know that if you have any outstanding behavioral or truancy proceedings, those will need to be resolved before this can begin. After that, the process is similar to informing the district that you will be homeschooling your children before the year starts.
  • First, mail certified or bring in person a copy of your letter of notification. If bringing it in in person, bring two letters: one to leave with them and one to bring home with you that they have stamped.
  • Second, call the school your child is enrolled in and let them know you have officially established a homeschool and will be withdrawing your child. Tell them know that you have already submitted your letter to the Board of Ed. Sometimes, the communication between schools and BOE takes too long. This step is important so that they do not mark your child absent and begin any truancy proceedings.
